Each degree program has been designed with the College of Graduate and Undergraduate Studies mission at the forefront: to empower students to achieve successful careers and meaningful lives, based on a vitalistic philosophy that promotes optimum performance and transformational leadership, to produce a positive impact in a dynamic world. Here’s a brief overview of the undergraduate degree programs at Life University:

Undergraduate Degree Programs

Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.): Students begin their academic journey by mastering a foundation in the overarching concepts of business, principles of management and leadership. Students will engage in courses in accounting, economics, marketing, finance, business law, human resource management, organizational behavior, ethics, social change/non-profit, diversity, social media marketing and sports management – all with a focus on socially responsible business philosophy.

Psychology (B.S.) (Offered On-Campus and Online): In addition to incorporating Life University’s vitalistic philosophy, students are taught to emphasize the inborn human capacities for love, courage, forgiveness, wisdom and interpersonal connection. Along with scientific study, these principles are woven throughout all coursework and culminate in real-life applications through either an internship or a senior thesis experience.

Dietetics (B.S.): Accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND), students will study the use of food and nutrition to promote health and manage disease. Life U’s dietetics program is built on a vitalistic view that what we eat can affect the entirety of our health, whether we are caring for an illness, trying to live a healthier lifestyle, maximizing our physical performance or simply cooking balanced meals for the week.

Nutrition (B.S.): Life U’s Nutrition Department boasts six state-of-the-art teaching kitchens where students receive hands-on training. Students also enjoy live demonstrations in a culinary amphitheater where instructors model concepts taught in class. Students will be prepared for success by connecting classroom theory with real-world practice in field rotations in the community and interacting with patients and clients. Graduates from the program will leave with an understanding of how quality nutrition can improve people’s lifelong health and performance.

Culinary Nutrition (B.S.): Culinary Nutrition is an exciting interdisciplinary research-based field with biochemical underpinnings that form a framework on which creative culinary professionals hang their artfully designed recipes while incorporating culinary science. This degree program prepares students to respect food and the food system as an integral part of health and healing.

Health Coaching (B.S.): Unlike health educators who typically provide information for patients to use on their own, health coaching uses a collaborative consultation model with the coach and patient working together. A Life U health coach works closely with patients to gain a deeper understanding of their conditions and master the skills needed to persist and succeed with a prescribed healthcare regimen.

Exercise Science (B.S.): This program prepares graduates for rewarding careers in cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation, sport injury management, health promotion, corporate fitness, and community-based fitness and wellness programs. Students will receive the highest-quality education and technical instruction in the disciplines of anatomy, biology, biochemistry, physiology and kinesiology, and they will apply this knowledge to a range of populations

Human Ecology (B.S.): Life U Human Ecology students learn about the relationships between humans and their economic, social, and natural environments. The program strives to advance methods by which sustainability could be achieved. Within this degree are two areas of study students could pursue: People, Politics and Social Change (PPSC) or Science, Sustainability and Resource Management (SSRM).

Biology (B.S.) (Offered On-Campus and Online): Our Biology curriculum is grounded in a philosophy that is deeply respectful of the innate intelligence of life – the ability of all organisms to be conscious, self-developing, self-maintaining and self-healing. This means that you’ll not only develop a solid knowledge base in the foundations of biology, but you’ll also cultivate a sense of respect and responsibility for our human role in understanding and influencing both our own living bodies and our place in the world.

Biopsychology (B.S.): Life U Biology students will explore the complex interdependencies between mind and body and use knowledge to improve individual and group function. Interdisciplinary coursework will explore and challenge our collective knowledge of fundamental biopsychological concepts regarding bases of behavior, emotion and cognition and their relation to health.

Computer Information Management (A.S. and B.S.): Students will learn the skills needed to make a positive impact on society and businesses utilizing information systems management. You will learn hands-on skills that transform you from computer users into technology developers, creating web and software solutions that make organizations and customers more productive, connected and satisfied. Students will learn to create mobile apps, interactive websites and databases for business and healthcare organizations. They will also earn the security skills needed to protect users, companies and health data.

Interdisciplinary Studies (B.S.) (Offered On-Campus and Online): This degree provides a breadth of knowledge that is particularly advantageous in our increasingly complex and rapidly changing world, where today’s skills are quickly outdated by tomorrow’s new technologies. The Interdisciplinary degree equips students with the communication expertise, critical thinking abilities and worldview that translate into transferable skills valued by all employers, and that can also easily be transferred to the pursuit of one of Life University’s three master’s degree programs.

Health and Wellness (A.S.) (Offered On-Campus and Online): This degree program is designed for individuals who wish to take part in America’s cultural change toward sustainable health choices, fitness and wellness-centered lifestyles. Upon completion of this health science degree’s requirements, graduates will be prepared to seek employment with recreational and health club facilities; community or corporate wellness programs; pursue independent contracting; or continue their education through various professional certifications and advanced degree programs.

Athletics

In addition to exceptional academic programs, Life University boasts a competitive athletic environment with sports at both the intercollegiate and intramural levels. Competing in the NAIA division, Life U offers the following intercollegiate sports: Basketball, Cross Country, Rugby, Soccer, Swimming, Track and Field, Volleyball, Wrestling, Cheer, Lacrosse and Club Rugby.

Intramural sports offer a great way to engage in the campus community, try something new and meet new people.  League play for various sports teams is held each quarter, and Life U also offers special events, providing opportunities to get off campus and explore the local region through hiking, indoor rock climbing, golfing, team trivia, online gaming, and community building initiatives.

Student Housing

Life U’s student housing options include Life’s Village Retreat (graduate and professional students) and The Commons (undergraduate students), both of which were created to provide a safe and inclusive community where residential students feel at home.

The Commons is designed with Life U’s newest, and youngest, students in mind. Encouraging community integration and social collaboration, The Commons at Life University is a physical example of a living, learning community. It’s equipped with residence life staff and fun programs, and even a slide from the 2nd floor down to the first!

Nature and Green Spaces

Life University is a beautiful campus of 110 acres with lush green spaces that are conducive to exercising, self-reflection and appreciating nature. There are approximately five miles of wooded trails that wind throughout campus. Along the trails you will find tranquility from Rottenwood Creek and beauty and intrigue from the 19th Century Historic Village. When not attending classes, students at Life U are often found studying and relaxing in hammocks, meditating by the creek or exercising on the trails.
