- Reading of a Proclamation for the “Esteemed Veteran of Roswell” Award to Sergeant Kent Sharp.
The Mayor and City Council proclaimed Sergeant Kent Sharp an Esteemed Veteran of Roswell for his service to both our community and our country.Sgt. Sharp joined the U.S. Army in 1969 before being deployed to Vietnam. He was honored with the Combat Infantryman Badge, Army Commendation Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters and “V” device, Army Good Conduct Medal, and the Vietnam Service Medal with three Bronze service stars. He was honorably discharged in 1975.
He co-founded VetBuds in 2011 along with other retired servicemen to support and provide assistance to other veterans in Georgia.
“While I don’t believe I’m worthy of the praise, I gladly accept this award and dedicate it to all Vietnam veterans that returned home from that unpopular war,” Sharp said. “Thank you Mayor Wilson and Roswell City Council Members and City staff for making Roswell, Ga. the best place in America to live.”

- Mayor Wilson brought forward a resolution to change the City Charter.
Action: Language regarding Council vacancies was removed. The rest of the changes were sent to the Feb. 15 committee meeting for further discussion.
Several changes were proposed to the City Charter. - Approval for the Mayor and/or City Administrator to sign a Contract Amendment to the Curbside Recycling and Yard Waste Contract with Waste Management.
Action: Approved unanimously as part of the consent agenda.
The City signed a new contract with Waste Management for curbside recycling and yard waste services. The new contract includes increased rates for Waste Management of $1.80 per house per month. - Approval to accept the FY2022 Road Resurfacing List and approval for the Mayor and/or City Administrator to sign a contract change order with Bartow Paving Co. in the amount of $2,298,019.
Action: Approved unanimously as part of the consent agenda. - Approval of the initiation of a Text Amendment to the Unified Development Code (UDC) regarding the RM-2 (Residential Multi-Family) and RM-3 (Residential Multi-Family) zoning districts.
Action: Approved unanimously
The text amendment proposes that no new amendments to the Official Zoning Map shall be made and no applications shall be accepted that request to rezone to the RM-2 and RM-3 zoning districts. It also removed multi-family from the R-X zoning. The amendment will next go to the Planning Commission for review.
