Selected Items from the April 25, 2022 Meeting

    Proclamation Gary Campbell
  • Mayor and City Council Honor Esteemed Veteran Captain Gary E. Campbell
    Mayor Kurt Wilson and City Council proclaimed Captain Gary E. Campbell an Esteemed Veteran of Roswell for his service to both our community and our country.

    Captain Campbell graduated from Washington Jefferson College in 1966 and was assigned as Army ROTC 2nd Lieutenant at Ft. McClellan in Anniston, Alabama. In 1967, Captain Campbell volunteered for and served in Vietnam. Throughout his Army career, he has served in the following roles: Brigade Briefing Officer, Tactical Operations Officer, Brigade Chemical Detachment Commander, and Reserve Infantry Officer under the rank of First Lieutenant. In 1968, Campbell was promoted to Captain as Post Chemical Officer and responsible for training infantry recruits at Fort Ord in Monterey, California. The Army awarded Captain Campbell the following medals: National Defense Service Medal, Republic Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, Bronze Star Medal, three Air Medals for having flown over 250 combat hours, Army Commendation Medal, and Non-Crewmember Flight Wings

    Water Treatment Plant of the Year
  • Recognition of the City of Roswell Water Utility Receiving Three Awards: Water Treatment Plant of the Year, Top Operator of the Year, and the Gold Award for Operations
    The Roswell Water Utility was recognized for receiving three prestigious awards from the Georgia Association of Water Professionals:

    • Roswell’s Water Treatment Plant won the 2022 Water Plant of the Year Award in the 1 MGD to 4.99 MGD category for Surface Water plants. The Roswell Water Utility previously won this award in 2020.
    • Roswell’s Corey Bagby won the TopOp Award in Water Distribution for District 3. The TopOp is presented to a certified operator that has excelled in his/her duties and sets an example for others.
    • Roswell’s Water Treatment Plant also won the Gold Award, which recognizes water facilities that have had no permit or pretreatment violations during the preceding calendar year. Since 2016, this is the 5th time the Roswell Water Utility has won the Gold Award.
  • Approval to Adopt the Updated Roswell Strategic Plan 2021 to 2025
    Action: Approved Unanimously
    The Roswell Strategic Plan 2021 to 2025 was adopted by Mayor and City Council on June 14, 2021. During the 2022 Mayor and Council Planning Retreat, the Strategic Plan was reviewed, discussed and updated. The updated Roswell Strategic Plan is aligned with the future vision of the City of Roswell Residents, Elected Officials and Leadership Team. Adoption of the updated Strategic Plan provides direction for the City of Roswell through 2025.

  • Approval of a text amendment to Chapter 4, Article 4.4. Massage Establishments of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Roswell to Permit and Regulate Massage Establishments and Spas. (First Reading)
    Action: First reading approved unanimously
    The draft spa ordinance would replace the current ordinance regulating spas and massage establishments and includes additional restrictions requiring all spa employees obtain an annual work permit.

    A second (and final) reading will take place at the Mayor and City Council Meeting on May 9, 2022.
