2012 Olympic MTB course in line for more repairs

EssexLive is reporting that the 2012 London Games Olympic mountain bike course was damaged in February, forcing its closure to the public. Parts of the 9km course have reopened following repairs, but work is ongoing with the goal of maintaining the trail for continued public use.

Lula Lake adding 15 miles of trails

The Lula Lake Land Trust, located adjacent to the Five Points trail system in northwest Georgia, plans to build 15 miles of new trails. SORBA Chattanooga is helping organize volunteer work days in April, May, and June with a group ride in mid May.

Trek Trails open at the John S. McCain III Bike Skills Park

The Trek Foundation and Verde Valley Wheel Fun recently opened a bike skills park for kids and local residents of Cornville, Arizona. The park features progressive features for riders of all abilities and is located adjacent to Oak Creek elementary school. Additional funding was provided by community members, the Catena Foundations, and PeopleforBikes.

Berm Park grand opening

The bike park located in western North Carolina, supported by Diamondback and Seth’s Bike Hacks, officially opened this past weekend. According to a press release, Clickbait is “the longest and most advanced trail, which dovetails to access the park’s only double black diamond. Less advanced and more leisure-focused members of the riding community will also have a number of beginner and intermediate options for honing one’s skills.”

Staunton Ranch Connector trail opens in Colorado

COMBA just opened a new singletrack connector trail in Staunton State Park linking the Staunton Ranch Trail with Borderline, allowing riders to put together even longer rides in the area.

Minocqua Winter Park begins trail construction

The Minocqua Winter Park ski area in Wisconsin is adding summer bike trails with the potential for up to 30 miles of singletrack in the future. The park already offers fat bike trails in winter, and has summer trails for hiking. With expanded summer offerings, the park just might need to change its name to Minocqua All-Season Park.

A bike park is being built across the street from a brewery. What could go wrong?

Good idea/bad idea: Trail builders from MTB Pro Trails Atlanta are constructing a new bike park at a mixed-use development across the street from the main Terrapin brewery in Athens. The official ribbon cutting is scheduled for May 20. It should make for a fun day, just consider hitting the bike park first, and the brewery second.

Elevation Parks trail building company launches with construction on Australia bike parks

A new company dubbed Elevation Parks with resume bullets including the Maydena Bike Park has launched in Australia. The team, led by Simon French, will start work this year with bike park projects in New South Wales and Queensland. For more information, check out the Elevation Parks website.

Fort Canyon DH trail officially opening soon

Work continues on a new downhill trail outside Alpine, Utah. The trail is located between the Fort Canyon and Dry Creek trails.
